Upping the difficulty level

It is way too easy to walk away from changes we are desperate to make.

Here’s a story about how I up the difficulty level

As part of my cancer treatment, I will be medically inducing menopause. (hold for applause and jealous side eye)

Menopause brings a lot of friends with her to the party…completely uninvited!

My nutrition and fitness heavily impact how all of this goes short AND long term. So, like any big transition, I knew I needed to assemble a team.

Introducing: The Meno Squad

🦸‍♀️ Therapist I've been working with her for 2 years on my Eating Disorder & Body Dysmorphia

🦸‍♀️ Registered Dietitian (Oncology) She makes sure I know the important nutrition needs as I go through cancer treatment.

🦸‍♀️ Registered Dietitian (ED & Menopause) She makes sure I know important nutrition needs as I enter menopause AND is specialized in working with people who have Eating Disorders.

🦸‍♀️ Health Coach Dr.Doriana Parkin It would be so hard to do this without her! She is the one who will support me, challenge me, and help me fight off my Gremlins as I make these lasting changes in a healthy way.

I want to note that being able to add the Registered Dietitians to this team without stress is because I have hit my out-of-pocket max for the year already.

Ok, I have my squad…now I’m going to be perfect every day, right?

Hahahahaha. That’s cute, but absolutely not.

I met with my health coach on a Monday. I was super pumped and set commitments with her for the week.

I was SO confident that I would not only meet those commitments…but BEAT them.

Then, something unexpected clotheslined me on Wednesday.

AND I still met my commitments that day. APPLAUSE! APPLAUSE!

Then, I completely ignored them on Thursday …AND Friday …AND Saturday …AND Sunday.

Here’s the magic of the squad

I was so damn excited to meet with my coach the next Monday.I knew we’d dig into what happened.I knew we’d make sure I learned and adapted.

And OH WOW did we.

THIS is why I have a coach on the team. They make it SO MUCH HARDER to walk away.

Need a coach for your squad? I know an awesome one. Wink wink. (Seriously though, I do know a lot of awesome coaches so reach out if you need one!)
